All trims are available in either front wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. The base Mariner comes standard with a 5-speed manual or an optional 6-speed automatic transmission. The 6-speed is standard with the 3.0L V6 engine. The Mariner Hybrid uses a 2.5L gasoline 4-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine, and is combined with a 94-horsepower electric motor. The gas engine delivers 153 horsepower at 6000 rpm and 136 pounds-feet of torque at 4500 rpm. The engine also has a permanent magnet AC synchronous motor.
